One of my favourite combinations is rugged, masculine items like brown leather and dainty, light-coloured lace and frills. I think the mixture of the textures and colours makes an outfit look perfectly balanced and two-dimensional.

I love the look of the distressed leather on the boots and the hat in this outfit because I never like anything to look too polished. Free People has mastered the art of making perfectly imperfect items for a shabby-chic, boho look.

I like this look because it’s the opposite of preppy and makes me feel feminine and rugged at the same time. The embellishment on the top is so fun and interesting and also adds a girly touch to balance out the cowboy-ness of the outfit.

Also, I’ve been living in these jeans lately. They’re so comfy and I love that the colour is so light blue that it almost looks white. I know it’s getting too late into fall to keep wearing them but I just can’t take them off!

Finally, these boots are great to pair with anything feminine like a dress or a maxi skirt because it creates that masculine/feminine combination I love so much. Frye is great at making boots that are just the right amount of distressed so they look worn but not completely destroyed.

Mixing styles is a fun way to change up your look and make any outfit more interesting. What are some styles, colours, patterns or textures you like pairing together?
