Fun DIY Christmas Décor!

No matter how old I grow, I still get insanely excited every time Christmas rolls around. This year, I started thinking about Christmas even before Halloween, so you can imagine my excitement when people started hanging Christmas lights in my neighbourhood, or when Starbucks Christmas cups came out. Even Christmas-themed candles at Bath and Body Works had me jumping for joy by late October. Everything and anything Christmas-y warms my heart and takes me back to my childhood, when Santa was real and magic was everywhere I turned.

I even started getting that familiar, warm-hearted feeling in my chest at the first snowfall yesterday, even though I begin to dread going outside by late January. With all the smells, sounds and sights of Christmas, how could you not be in a good mood?

So now that I’ve let you in on my obsession with Christmas, it shouldn’t be a surprise that I compiled a list of five DIY Christmas décor ideas for your viewing, or crafting pleasure.

I love how simple and understated this rustic bell garland is. Its shabby-chic look would be great to set off any other colourful or grand decorations you might have in your home.

If you’ve never crafted anything using mason jars, then you’re seriously missing out! There are literally thousands of ways to use them to make beautiful decorations like these winter-wonderland candle holders. I love how natural and simple they look on the shabby, white surface.

Above point proven! These fun snowglobes are yet another way to use mason jars to make cute crafts. Kids will love making their own snowglobes and you can place them on your mantle or any other surface around the house to spread some holiday cheer.

I adore candles, so any way I can spruce them up or make them more visually appealing is always appreciated. I love the rustic-chic look of the twine around these cinnamon sticks. Not only does it look beautiful, but the cinnamon would smell amazing in your home!

Keeping with the rustic theme I have going on here, this sign’s distressed wood is so lovely and shabby-chic. I love everything about this photo; the green of the plant paired with the white lettering and the wood is gorgeous, and I love the sign’s simple message – what a great way to welcome guests.

How do you like to decorate your home for the holiday season?
