Skincare Favourites: New and Old

Taking care of your skin should be one of the most important parts of your beauty regime. Healthy skin is what keeps you looking young and fresh-faced, so it’s super important to find products that work for you no matter what.

Everyone has that one tried-and-true product that they always trust, but it can also be fun to try out new products and find out what else works for you. Finding that perfect mixture of products that helps you achieve your best complexion can be difficult and involves lots and lots of experimentation, but the result is a sweet spot of not-too-dry, not-too-oily, healthy, hydrated skin.

As for me, I still haven’t found the perfect mix of products, but I think I’m pretty close. But even when I do achieve that magical skin routine, my skin is still changing as I age and will probably never stop, so you never really reach the perfect beauty regime because it is (or should be) in a constant state of flux.

Below is a list of some of my favourite skin products. Some I’ve been using for years, while others I started using just last week.

This one is definitely a tried-and-true. My mom recommended this one to me, so it’s proven to be effective across generations. I love how non-oily and light the formula is because I hate it when moisturizer feels heavy or greasy. It’s unscented, simple and gets the job done without fuss!

This product is a newbie in my regime and I already love it. I use it in the morning and it’s definitely been a life-saver during these below zero temperatures. It really wakes up the skin as the name suggests and the formula is super lightweight. It also has a beautiful, understated scent, which I love!

This is another tried-and-true. I’ve been using Noxzema as my go-to daily cleanser for as long as I can remember. Like Complex 15, Noxzema is simple yet effective and basically just gets the job done. I like this one because it’s not oil-free. I’ve tried oil-free cleansers before thinking they would make my skin less oily, but the opposite happened because they tend to strip away natural oils, therefore making my skin produce more oils to compensate. Noxzema is just a great neutral formula, which I need because I have combination skin and it’s always either too dry or too oily. Noxzema is also great for a sunburn because it cools and refreshes the skin. I swear by this product and will probably use it until the day I die!

I mentioned this product in my last blog post, and I’m enthusiastic enough about it to mention it again! As I mentioned, I got this mask as a Christmas present and loved it immediately. It’s so refreshing and cooling, which is wonderful if your skin tends to get inflamed, puffy or red. If you’re looking for a relaxing mask to unwind and refresh, this one is your best bet!

And finally, another tried-and-true. I don’t use this product everyday because it’s an exfoliant and my skin would get super dry if I did. But I love it once in a while to remove dead skin cells and invigorate the skin. The exfoliating beads are super tiny but effective and it smells amazing – green tea is really soothing. It’s also great for blackheads, which I tend to get once in a while. I would definitely recommend this one as a deep-cleaning exfoliant!
