If you’re anything like me, you have a very particular routine and set of items required to help you fall asleep – and stay asleep. I’m far from the type of person who can have a snooze anywhere anytime, and the quality of my sleep will be compromised if I don’t abide by my nighttime regime.
Along with food, water and exercise, sleep is one of the most essential components of our wellbeing, so it’s so important to make getting enough quality sleep a major priority. Who hasn’t wished for a dedicated nap-time during the work day like back in pre-school? I know I have – I was so ungrateful for the extra rest back then!
Sadly, most of us have to make do with the rest period we have at night, so it’s super important to get the most out of it as possible. There are lots of things you can do to improve the quality of your sleep like making sure all electronics and digital lights are off, (I always put a pillow over my digital box so it’s not shining in my face while I sleep. You’d be surprised by how much light a tiny clock can emit!) spraying your pillow with calming lavender spray or making sure you’re clean and moisturized before you drift away to dreamland.
Cute jammies and soft, stylish sheets don’t hurt, either!
I’ve compiled a list of a few of my sleep routine favourites (plus a few slumber-party-appropriate items I’m currently wishing for!). Check out the gallery below for some ideas on how to make sure you get the best rest possible!
