I only recently discovered the off-the-grid style of homes called earthships, but when I did, I was immediately love-struck. I can’t think of a better way to escape into nature than with an off-the-grid home made out of earthy, recycled materials and full of plant life.
What better way to live off the land and give back to mother earth than by going back to basics? I think if everyone thought like the homeowners of these homes, the world would be a much better, safer, happier place.
Just hanging out in one of these homes for a day would be so relaxing and rejuvenating. I’d love to curl up with a book in a cobb reading nook, or spend a day tending to the plants in a natural-light-flooded greenhouse.
Earthships are so natural and unique-looking, and there are so many ways to make yours, well, yours. Entire walls can be made out of coloured, transparent materials like old glass bottles so that when the sun shines through it makes for some beautiful light. Another way to personalize your earth ship is with plants and water features – fish ponds look beautiful and so serene in greenhouses!
I think building your own earthship is such an aesthetically-pleasing and unique way to ensure that the environment is healthy and safe for future generations. Not only are earthships eco-friendly and self-sufficient, but they’re also cozy, gorgeous and relaxing – it’s really a win-win for you and the environment!
