Today’s #SoulSunday is all about vibrational frequencies and how to raise yours. But before I get into some of the best ways to increase your vibrational frequency, I think it would be wise to explain what I mean by that term (hint: it’s not a setting on your cellphone!).
Your vibrational frequency is basically your energy field or your aura. Everything in the universe has a vibrational frequency, which connects you to other things in the universe. Your energy field is unique to you and it determines what you attract. For example, if your energy field is negative or low, you’ll attract negative people and experiences, whereas if it’s positive, high-vibrating and loving, you’ll attract more positivity into your life.
It’s really quite simple: the more negative, unpleasant, dark thoughts you have, the lower your vibrational frequency, whereas if you have more positive, uplifting, sunshine-y thoughts, your vibrational frequency will be higher. Similarly, the more negative experiences you engage in, such as taking alcohol or drugs, eating unhealthy foods or overworking, will result in a darker aura and the attraction of more negative experiences.
As one of my favourite children’s authors Roald Dahl said, “If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” I love that quote because it’s so true!
So, now do you see why it’s so important to keep your energy field positive, high-vibrating and uplifted? If so, read on to see some simple things you can do to improve your health and well-being and increase your vibrational frequency.
1. Change your eating habits
Processed foods found in packages and boxes vibrate at a low frequency, while fresh, whole foods from nature vibrate at a much higher frequency. Eating healthy, natural foods will increase your vibration and clear your aura of unwanted junk. Similarly, make sure you’re keeping hydrated and drinking lots of water throughout the day to increase your vibration.
2. Meditate and practice yoga
Keeping stress at bay is a must if you’re trying to increase your vibrational frequency. If you’re constantly worrying about work, school or other everyday concerns, your aura will be blocked and cluttered with negative emotions, which will only attract more negativity and stress. Finding time to rest, recharge and focus on your breath will benefit your life in so many ways by helping to cleanse your aura of negativity.
Working out releases tons of endorphins and happy hormones, which can help you de-stress and uplift your mood. Anything that makes you feel happy is also raising your vibrational frequency, and exercising is a wonderful way to do this. Even if it’s just for twenty minutes, try letting go of everything and acting like a kid again. Dance, sing and move your body however it wants to move. The pure joy and freedom you’ll experience will help to cleanse your aura and increase your energy levels.
4. Practice gratitude
If you’re not grateful for the things you do have, why would the universe be willing to give you more? Being grateful for friends, family and the things that make us happy can turn any situation on its head and completely alter your perspective. Even when everything feels like it’s going wrong, stopping to realize that this life is pretty amazing always makes me feel so much better.
5. Spend time in nature
I once read that roses have a very high vibrational frequency, which makes so much sense considering how beautiful and ethereal they are. Taking a walk outside and surrounding yourself with the simplicity and beauty of this earth is a lovely way to increase your vibrational frequency and uplift your spirits. Connecting with nature is the closest thing we have to connecting to the divine realm on earth, so of course it will have an amazing effect on your soul.
6. Practice kindness and compassion
Everything in the universe is connected, so when you help to make someone else happy, you’re also doing the same thing for yourself. When you put out positive energy into the world, you’re helping to attract more positivity into your own life. Plus, who doesn’t feel a little happier after giving money to the homeless or helping a stranger across the street? Even something as simple as smiling at someone can have endless positive reverberations. John Lennon had it right with his tune Instant Karma.
7. Repeat positive affirmations
Repeating positive affirmations, especially when you’re in doubt, can really improve any negative situation. Every time I hear a negative thought like “you’re not good enough” or “you’ll never amount to anything” creep into my mind, I try to immediately drown it out with an uplifting, positive thought, even if I don’t believe it at the moment. If we focus on thinking that we’re good enough and worthy of happiness, we will eventually begin to believe it. Like attracts like, and if you focus your mind on thinking positive, uplifting thoughts, you’ll attract positive circumstances. Try to create a mantra for yourself that fits your situation and thought patterns such as “I am worthy of love” and repeat it to yourself until you believe it.
