What I Wore Wednesday: Folksy, Floral Frock

IMG_5186This week for What I Wore Wednesday, I’m wearing one of my favourite summer frocks. As soon as I saw it in the store with its cinched empire waist, billowy sleeves and earth-toned floral pattern, I knew I just had to have it!

Its shape is super flattering and the colours make it so easy to accessorize – I usually just throw on some bronzed, boho jewelry and leather details to complete the look. Today, I wore my layered necklaces (I call them my pirate necklaces!) with my chunky sandals to create a textured, dynamic look.

I also quickly weaved my hair into a simple, messy braid. I love styling my hair in a laid-back, relaxed way in the summer because a) it’s EASY and b) I think it looks super effortless and chic, especially with a boho look like this one. (An easy braid will also help keep you cool on boiling days like this one!).

Another reason I love this dress for the summer is because I feel like its off-white shade brings out my tan!  Its colours are super neutral and earthy, so whenever I wear it I feel like I’m blending in with nature perfectly.

Plus, if it randomly gets chilly as it tends to in May, it doesn’t throw off my look to add a jean jacket or a fun poncho. Those factors, as well as its flowy structure and flattering fit, make it the ideal summer frock.

Seriously, this is one of my go-to outfits for dinner, drinks or daytime (yep, it’s a tripler D’r!). Do you have a favourite summer outfit that you gravitate towards? Let me know in the comments!
