Three crucial reasons to start working on your self love

FullSizeRenderI’ve only recently embarked on my journey of self-love, and I already feel like I’m learning so much about myself and the way I see the world. It’s crazy how many negative thoughts you catch yourself thinking when you really become conscious and tune into your inner voice.

I’ve been reading lots of Louise Hay’s work lately, and I feel like only now, at the age of 21, am I beginning to realize that I don’t love myself as much as I should. It’s not about being narcissistic or vain, it’s just about appreciating yourself and your attributes so you can fulfill your potential in the world.

As I learned more, I realized that many people don’t love themselves at all, and this deficit of self-love is the source of so many personal demons and world crises. If there’s one thing I learned from Louise’s work, it’s to treat yourself with love and kindness the way you would treat a child.

In case you need a little bit of extra motivation to get started on your journey, here are three reasons why it’s so important to love yourself:

1. You’ll be able to develop significant, healthy relationships if you love yourself. If you don’t appreciate yourself, how can you expect another person to treat you with the love and respect you deserve?

2. You’ll be better equipped to fulfill your untapped potential and share your talents with the world. Having confidence and believing in yourself are key. Otherwise, how will you find the motivation to keep going or break out of your comfort zone? Be your own cheerleader!

3. You’ll be able to help others. If you can’t help yourself, you definitely won’t be able to help others. Focusing on yourself isn’t selfish, in fact it’s quite the opposite! There’s a reason why flight attendants tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before you help others.

There are countless other reasons to work on your self love, can you think of any? Let me know in the comments below!
