Three online workouts I’m currently loving

IMG_1951While I am a member of a gym, sometimes I feel like all I can manage is a 20-minute workout in my kitchen. It’s just so much easier to exercise at home — all you have to do is open your computer and you’re set.

I have quite a few favourite online workouts. This week, I’ve tried out a couple of new ones, which I thought I’d share with you here in case you need a little extra motivation!

One of the things I love so much about online workouts is that it’s really like having a personal trainer in your home with you, without all the hassle of having to talk to people (I know, I’m a hermit, sue me!). You get all the encouragement and motivation without even having to change out of your pyjamas — it’s a homebody’s dream!

Insanity with Shaun T. is one of my all-time favourite at-home workouts, and I often find myself using it as a sort of touchstone, measuring every other workout I do against it. It’s so challenging yet so rewarding, and you always end up feeling great afterwards.

The workouts below come pretty close to being as challenging as Insanity, but in a way it’s good that they’re not as difficult because sometimes I like to switch it up. Your muscles need variety in order to keep improving, so I love trying out new videos as often as I can.

1. 30-day Shred with Jillian Michaels. I know I’m pretty late to the game on this, but so far I LOVE this workout. I’m only on day two of level one (there are three levels, each lasting for 10 days), and I already feel like I’m getting toned. Jillian Michaels is one tough lady, and if you’re looking for something easy with lots of breaks, this one probably isn’t for you! I hope I can make it to the 30-day mark because I’ve seen some amazing success stories online.

2. Cardio Barre: Dancer’s Body Workout. I love any workout that has ballet-inspired moves, and this one was no exception. It was pretty killer, but Cardio Barre is a great way to build long, lean muscles.

3. Dance Party Workout by FitSugar. Dancing is really one of the best ways to exercise — it’s so much fun and it burns tons of calories. I always love FitSugar’s workouts because they’re tough and challenging but super fun and upbeat as well.
