I’ve been learning so much about the mind-body connection in my yoga teacher training program, and the effect your emotions have on your overall health and wellbeing is undeniable. When you make time to relax, you’re connecting to the flow and creating space for positive things to come into your life.
I believe everyone should make time during their day to relax, recharge and reset, so they can function to their best ability. Whether that’s through meditation, yoga, or baths, I find that one of the best ways to signal to your body that it’s time to relax is with music!
In Doreen Virtue’s book Don’t Let Anything Dull Your Sparkle, she talks about how calming music can have amazing effects on your health and wellbeing, helping you regain your sparkle! She cites studies that show that relaxation or meditation music actually has an effect on your hormonal stress responses like cortisol levels. To me, that’s reason enough to dust off those old speakers and play some tunes!

- Healing 101: Relaxing Music for Spa, Massage Therapy, Yoga, Mindfulness Meditation and Sleep Songs. If you’re looking for something laid-back and chill for your daily yoga or meditation practice, this album is full of lovely melodies and unique sounds.
- Clarity (Relaxation Music for Your Serenity and Health). Sign me up for anything involving wave sounds! There’s nothing like the healing power of the ocean, but if, like me, you can’t get there, then this album will help you get there in spirit!
