Letting Go of Fears and Insecurities to Achieve Your Goals

I’ve always dreamt of being a published author, and it’s a dream I’m still working towards today. But it wasn’t until I let go of fears, insecurities and doubts that I really started to work towards this goal in a real, tangible way. Before I did this, I would make excuse after excuse, thinking of my goal of becoming an author as something that was far out of my reach.

Do I still have doubts and insecurities today? Of course I do – I’m only human! But I definitely don’t let them rule me anymore. I push through the little voice that says “you can’t do this!” and keep tapping away at my keyboard.

This little voice is nothing more than your ego trying to bring you down. But if every author had listened to this voice that undoubtedly plagues everyone, there would be no Romeo & Juliet, no Pride & Prejudice, and definitely no inspiration for little budding writers like me.

If you have a goal, no matter how big or small it is, you CAN achieve it. It’s just a matter of feeding the right beast, the one that says that you’re good enough, you have a chance, instead of the one that says “nope, sorry” right out of the gate.

The next time you hear that little voice telling you that your dream will never be realized, that you’re too this or too that, or that it’s impossible, simply smile and reply “thank you for your input, but I’ve got creating to do.” Silence it before it can control you, and I promise you’ll end up one step closer to your dream than you were yesterday.

How do you push through fears and insecurities to #GetStuffDone? Let me know in the comments!
