Ireland Part Two: Ardmore

After our fabulous stay at Marlfield, we headed to Ardmore in County Waterford. We only stayed there for one night, but it was enough to catch a glimpse of the beautiful ocean views and charming, colourful cottages.

The Cliff House, a contemporary Relais & Chateau overlooking the harbour, was our home base, and while it definitely had a completely different feel than Marlfield, it didn’t disappoint. I spent the afternoon in the spa, swimming in the infinity pool, soaking in the jacuzzi, and relaxing in the quiet room. It was all overlooking the gorgeous, choppy grey waters of the Atlantic and the moody skies above, making for quite the picturesque view.

After we had been thoroughly blissed out in the spa, we did the stunning St. Declan’s Walk all around the cliffside. With the breeze blowing and the sun peeking through the storm clouds, it was really a magical couple of hours, especially with the added visuals of church ruins and St. Declan’s healing well. I definitely felt the energy of Ireland during the entire walk–ghosts, fairies, saints and all!

Ardmore is really a stunning gem of a town, with so much magic, history and vibrancy–and a beautiful beach to boot! I can definitely see myself coming back here someday, even if it’s just to sit by St. Declan’s well and make a wish.
