Before I dive into this post, I have to apologize for neglecting my blog for the past few months. While life has been hectic, we always make time for the things that are good for the soul, and I can’t deny anymore that blogging has been a significant creative outlet for me these past few years. I always miss sharing my thoughts and ideas with you when things get too busy to post, so I’m going to make a concerted effort to get back into it from now on.
That said, part of the reason why I decided to post today was because I feel like I’ve been disconnected from my inner world recently. If we don’t make it a regular practice to slow down, go inwards, and connect with our true selves, things can go haywire pretty fast. It’s so key to make time to be alone with ourselves to really check in with our thoughts and emotions before they run away from us and create problems that aren’t really there.
Lately I’ve been finding myself stuck in negative thought patterns that seem completely out of left field when I think about them logically, but they have the power to affect me physically and emotionally on a real level. Our minds are funny things, but I feel like sometimes shaking things up in our thinking can be the catalyst for true and positive change.
Some of my favourite ways to change the energy of a situation include yoga, meditation, taking a bath, breathing deeply, and laughing. But sometimes, I find it’s as simple as thinking your way out of a negative thought pattern and choosing the positive thought instead! At the end of it all, it’s so crucial to remember that all we have is this moment, so why not adopt a lighthearted attitude and just have a sense of humour about everything?
These ideas were totally solidified when I chose the “Faerie of Naughtiness” card from Brian and Wendy Froud’s faerie oracle cards. The faerie is all about shaking things up through laughter and humour, and doing something unexpected or even naughty to shift the energy around you.
“The Faerie of Naughtiness asks you to step outside your boundaries for a moment and do something unexpected. She dares you (well, you can see that by the way she’s looking at you) to change the energy of a situation by doing the one thing that will tilt the universe just a tiny bit.”
I think we could all learn something from this lighthearted creature! How do you like to change up a situation or negative thought pattern? I’d love to hear your tips!
