Crystal Cleansing for 2017

The new year is such a wonderful time for cleansing, renewing and refreshing. Today I decided to take some time to exercise, go on a long walk in nature, drink detoxing dandelion root tea and write down what I’m grateful for.

Another cleansing ritual I performed today was dedicated to my crystals, which I hate to say I haven’t cleansed since I bought them. Like magnifying glasses, crystals are used to amplify any prayers, energy or vibes, whether positive or negative, so it’s important to cleanse them every now and again. I did some research into the best ways to cleanse them, and one method that resonated with me was using sage or palo santo smoke to release any bad vibes from the crystals then placing them in a glass bowl filled with fresh, chemical-free water over night to recharge them.

Luckily, one of my Christmas gifts this year was a bundle of palo santo sticks, which is sacred wood from Ecuador. When it’s lit, this wood releases beautiful sweet-smelling smoke which has been used in spiritual rituals for years. In addition to spreading the smoke around my house and body, I held it up against each of my crystals to cleanse them of any bad vibes they’ve absorbed over the years.

While you perform the cleansing, you can think about the positive intentions and prayers you have for the crystals, your space and your life. This is a beautiful ritual to perform for the new year, and it’s a great way to ensure your crystals aren’t holding onto anything negative that could be amplified.

Remember to be kind to your crystals as they are life forms with consciousness, too. Not only do they look beautiful, but they are amazing tools to use for healing, meditation, or strengthening your intuition.

I hope your 2017 is filled with love, light and endless happiness!
