Hi loves! Today I wanted to share a few of the things I’ve been loving lately and that have been inspiring me to live a healthier, more aligned lifestyle.
This month, I’ve been making it my mission to really focus on my mindset and lifestyle habits so I can basically just be my absolute best self and have more time to focus on the things that light me up. The foundation for this has really been my morning routine, which consists of journalling, reading a chapter of my book and meditation.
I find a solid morning routine really sets you up for a successful day and just gets you in the mindset to make great choices all day long. And who doesn’t want that?
While I’m working on forming new habits and getting in tip top shape for the fall season, there are a few things I’ve been leaning on to support my health kick, and I wanted to share them with you in hopes that they inspire you, too!
I’ve posted about the Mimi Method before on my Instagram, and I am still absolutely loving it. Created by Mimi Bouchard, it’s an online platform with three sections: nourish, move and transform which focus on recipes/food, exercise and meditations, respectively. I first found Mimi on Instagram after watching her on the reality TV show Made in Chelsea, and quickly realized she has a ton of amazing content on her podcast and Instagram all about mindset, self-development, wellness and more. I really connected with her overall vibe and outlook on life, so I decided to try the 7 day free trial of her membership program. After completing the trial, I decided to sign up as a member because I felt such a change in my mindset in just a few days, especially after doing the meditations in the transform section. I encourage you to check out Mimi’s content and if you’re aligned with her message, definitely give the Mimi Method a try!
I recently discovered BIO RAW salads at Loblaws. They have seven options that are all gluten free, nut free, organic and plant based, and most importantly, super high in essential nutrients. So far I’ve tried the Balance and the Shred, and I can’t wait to try them all. They also offer weekly plans including customizable meals that they deliver to you, which is key for anyone like me who isn’t super into cooking and loves a convenient meal. I will definitely sign up for one of the plans once I get back into a steady routine in the fall. One other thing I love about this company is that they list all their nutrition facts on their website. I know there’s a general trend in the health food industry of not listing nutrition facts because the focus should be on nutrients, but as someone with type 1 diabetes who needs to know the exact amount of carbs in a meal, this is so appreciated.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage
I had been hearing about lymphatic drainage massages for a while on Instagram, and I was intrigued by a few before & after posts showing a significant reduction in bloating and puffiness after the treatment. A couple weeks ago I finally gave it a try at Toronto Bodyworks, and I’m so glad I did because it was so lovely. Unlike regular Swedish massages, lymphatic drainage massages are done with a softer, lighter touch because they focus on moving the lymph fluid along throughout your body. Sometimes fluid can become stuck or clogged in our bodies, and lymphatic drainage massages can help with this, in addition to being super relaxing. My masseuse, Kathleen, also recommended daily gentle movement and dry brushing as effective ways to keep the lymph fluid from becoming too stagnant. I would highly recommend this treatment!
Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav
I know this book is old and I’m late to the party, but I am so glad I finally got around to taking it off my shelf to give it a read. I’ve been reading a chapter or two every morning as part of my daily routine. Each chapter focuses on a different aspect of the soul’s journey like intention, choice, relationships, etc. and they all serve as such a great reminder of fundamental truths of life that we all need to brush up on from time to time. I love how simple and plain the language is because it makes this book so accessible to everyone and easily digestible (especially in the mornings!). It’s so interesting how your soul recognizes truth when it hears it, and this book is definitely full of timeless information and advice that applies to everyone living on this planet.
I hope this post inspires you to discover more things that light you up and help you along your health and wellness journey, too! If you’d like to share some of your favourite things with me, feel free to leave a comment below or reach out to me on social media.
