This post is LONG overdue – about a year to be exact! Last September I went on a beautiful trip to France with my mom and I’m finally getting around to sharing some of my favourite highlights and photos from the trip.
This trip was originally supposed to be a full family affair including my dad as well, but at the last minute he decided he didn’t want to join so it became a mother-daughter vaca only. It ended up working out for the best because instead of heading to Normandy after Paris, my mom and I decided to visit Les Sources de Caudalie, a vinotherapie spa (yes, that means wine therapy!) in Bordeaux.
But first, PARIS! This was my third time visiting this beautiful city and definitely my favourite so far. We spent our days walking around, visiting museums, ducking into cafés and of course, shopping. I just love the Parisian lifestyle so much – they seem to know how to enjoy the pleasures of life. It was also fashion week while we were there so our favourite thing to do was sit outside cafés and count the models as they passed by.
This was the view from our first hotel, it was so dreamy! We also stayed at the Saint James, which had some really quirky, dramatic and all around gorgeous décor and architecture.
Strolling around the markets in Paris is an ideal way to spend an afternoon.
Les Sources de Caudalie
After Paris, we headed to Bordeaux to visit Les Sources de Caudalie. I had been hearing about this beautiful hotel and vineyard for a while (specifically that they offer wine barrel soaks and other wine-related treatments) and knew we had to check it out. With the stunning scenery, quaint architecture and awe-inspiring pools, it did not disappoint!
Enjoying a glass of rosé upon arrival.
I loved how they blended contemporary sculptures with the rustic, village-esque architecture of the grounds.
They brought us fresh grapes from the vineyard to our room! It’s the little details like this that make a hotel stay so special.
The photos above are from the spa. We both had a massage and then a soak in the tub (this one was filled with water instead of wine, unfortunately), and it was divine.
We ate this same meal pretty much every day we were there because it was so delicious. It’s ceviche, mesclun greens, tomatoes with olive tapenade and the best part, BURRATA!
These seasoned nuts were also super delicious with a chilled glass of rosé.
I also worked out in their gym, which I loved because it’s purple, duh! The treadmill had a lovely view of the courtyard so I could enjoy the scenery while I walked.
The breakfast room was beautifully decorated with the most romantic velvet chairs. I loved starting my day with mixed nuts, yogurt, coffee and a green juice.
We rode these cute bikes all around the grounds and through the vineyards, making a pit stop to visit some cute animal friends.
There you have it! This was such a beautiful trip and I’m so glad we got to go before the pandemic hit. I really hope we can go back sometime soon.
Where in the world are you dying to visit right now?
