We initially weren’t sure if we should make the trek from Capri to Positano during our stay in Italy — it was a bit out of the way from our home base, but we had heard rave reviews about it, so we decided to check it out. This morning, the ferry took us to Sorrento where we took the bus along the Amalfi Coast to the charming little town, and before we had even reached our destination, I knew we had made the right decision. Hundreds of colourful buildings are piled up on the hillside, which faces some of the bluest water I’ve ever seen, and everywhere you look there’s another inspiring vignette just asking to be photographed. The whole town has such a vibrant, cheerful mood to it, and you can’t help but join in and feel happy when you’re there.
Even if we hadn’t been able to stop in Positano for the day, the trip would’ve been worth it because we were able to catch a glimpse of the stunning coastline with its jaw-dropping ocean views and vertigo-inducing cliffs. By the time we arrived in the town, getting to spend the day there was just a bonus. During our short four and a half-ish hour stop, we hung out on the beach, walked through the winding, narrow streets (which are lined with the brightest pink bougainvillea ever!), browsed through some shops and had lunch on a gorgeous patio overlooking the entire town and waterfront. Making the journey to see this charming little gem of a town was most definitely worth it, and I’m sure I’ll be back sometime in the future for an extended vaca.
